Highlights of school life

Exciting things happen every day at our school. It’s a place where students learn, grow and enjoy a range of activities. Check out our highlights for a glimpse into our vibrant school life and visit our Facebook page for even more memorable moments.

We have specialist educators available for students who need additional support, including a Student Wellbeing Officer, School Counsellor, and School Chaplain. Our individualised learning plans and Hands-On Learning groups help ensure that all students grow with confidence and resilience, preparing them for the future. Students can also participate in programs such as Boys to the Bush mentoring, the Seasons of Growth Program, and our daily Breakfast Club, which offers a healthy breakfast in a safe and secure environment for all students before school.

Kindergarten transition programs

Lavington Public School has three specialist Kindergarten teachers who are Early Childhood trained with a combined 60 years experience teaching Kindergarten.

The highly regarded 'Little Leaps' Kindergarten Transition Program runs during Term 4 for students who are enrolled in Kindergarten at Lavington Public School for the following year.

Transition to High School programs

To ensure students are well-prepared for high school, we have transition programs in collaboration with Murray High School, and we can also facilitate transition programs for other local high schools.

A year at our school

There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.

Cultural Celebrations

We celebrate culturally significant events such as Harmony Day and Refugee Week, and our students participate in cultural incursions and excursions that honour diversity and help cultivate well-rounded global citizens.  Our students come from diverse backgrounds, and we are proud to offer Arabic, Swahili, and Nepali-speaking School Learning Support Officers to assist them.  Maintaining regular communication with our EAL/D families is essential to ensure that messages and information about school events are conveyed clearly.  By prioritising open dialogue and collaboration with families from diverse linguistic backgrounds, we strive to create a supportive environment where all students can thrive and fully participate in the vibrant cultural life of our school, ultimately enriching the educational journey for everyone involved. Through these efforts, we aim to instil a sense of belonging and pride in our students, empowering them to celebrate their unique identities while also embracing the diverse world in which they live.

Riverina Dance Festival

For students who are passionate about dance, the Riverina Dance Festival presents an exciting opportunity to showcase their talents on a prominent regional stage, allowing them to shine in front of an audience that appreciates the art of movement and expression. This festival serves as a celebration of dance in all its forms, inviting participants from various schools and backgrounds to come together and share their creativity through performances that reflect their unique styles and cultural influences. With a focus on inclusivity and artistic expression, the Riverina Dance Festival not only provides a platform for students to demonstrate their skills but also fosters a sense of community as dancers collaborate, learn from one another, and form lasting friendships. The event is supported by experienced instructors and choreographers who guide students in preparing for their performances, ensuring they feel confident and well-prepared to take the stage.

Riverina Sport Representation

Our students are provided with numerous avenues to pursue excellence in sports, including pathways to regional and state representation.  Riverina Sport Representation offers our students a multitude of opportunities to excel in their athletic pursuits, ensuring they have access to various avenues that promote not only skill development but also personal growth and teamwork. Through dedicated programs and initiatives, students are encouraged to engage in competitive sports at different levels, which opens doors for them to showcase their talents beyond the local community. This includes pathways that lead to regional competitions, where they can represent the Riverina region, as well as pathways that extend further to state representation. By participating in these programs, students not only enhance their sporting abilities but also gain valuable experiences that foster resilience, discipline, and a sense of camaraderie with their peers.

Arts Festival and Whole School Production

We believe in the power of the arts to inspire and unite.  Every student at our school has the opportunity to participate in our Arts Festival and whole school performance.  These events are meticulously planned and executed, drawing on the skills and expertise of our dedicated team of staff members who are passionate about the arts and committed to nurturing student potential. We create an environment where students can thrive across the curriculum, developing not only their artistic abilities but also essential life skills such as confidence, teamwork, and communication. The Arts Festival and whole school production are celebrations of our students' hard work and creativity, bringing together families, friends, and community members to witness the incredible achievements of our young artists and performers. Through these experiences, we aim to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the arts, encouraging our students to explore their passions and recognise the vital role that creativity plays in enriching our lives.
