What we offer

Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

Hiring our facilities

You may apply to use our school’s facilities for appropriate purposes provided your hiring of the facility doesn't interfere with our teaching and learning programs.

We assess each application on a case-by-case basis. Find out more at Using school facilities.

Before, After School and Holiday Care

TheirCare provides adventurous and stimulating Before & After School Care Programs in a safe environment for all children. During sessions children develop life skills, friendships, confidence and creativity through play.

Lavington Public School has partnered with TheirCare to provide this service to your school which includes quality care, booking flexibility, amazing programming for your children and commitment to deliver on our promise to your school community.

Your service coordinator will be available during session times, Service Phone Number: 0467 004 966  TheirCare support is available during office hours if required on 1300 072 410.

To enrol your child, visit TheirCare website: www.theircare.com.au and click on ‘Book Now’ in the top right hand corner to register your child’s details.

Permanent bookings can be made on the same days every week that simply carry out throughout the year. Casual bookings are irregular based on your needs. The most cost effective way to use the service is to book 7 days in advance.

External Providers and NDIS Appointments

As part of the NDIS, some parents/carers request that externally funded service providers attend our school setting to deliver specialist services to their child during school hours, such as speech therapy, behavioural and occupational therapy.

If your child has an NDIS plan and you would like this to occur, there is a process that needs to be followed.

This process needs to begin, or be renewed, at the start of each school year.

Step 1 Parents must complete the Parent/Carer Request Form available from the front office.  The form should be returned to the school once completed.

Step 2 Parents will be invited to meet with our Assistant Principal Wellbeing to discuss the need, intended impact alignment with the child’s Personalised Learning and Support Plan, requested delivery times and frequency, and why the child needs to access the service during school time. Parents should bring all relevant documents and information to the meeting.  Parents may wish to invite the therapy provider to the meeting however Lavington Public School will not meet any costs for providers to attend meetings at the school.  Decisions to allow external providers to deliver support at the school are made on a case-by-case basis and are at the school’s discretion.

Step 3 If approved, the timing and frequency of external service delivery is to be negotiated with the Learning Support Team, as well as the classroom teacher.  Parents should let the provider know the school agrees for the service to be delivered during school hours, including letting them know the agreed times, room location and days for the service to be delivered.

Please note: Requests from external providers will not be considered unless parents/carers have initiated contact and made a request.

Hands on Learning Program

Hands on Learning is an innovative education program that supports the different ways young people learn.

Staffed by a teacher and an SLSO at all times Hands on Learning staff work collaboratively with a small group of students on authentic projects in our Hands on Learning dedicated learning area that provide a platform for students to engage, grow confidence and achieve success at school.

Hands on Learning fosters strong, long term relationships that help young people develop the skills and abilities they need to succeed in the classroom, work, and life such as collaboration, problem solving, communication, resilience and empathy.
