At Lavington Public School, SRE and SEE is delivered each Wednesday after lunch.
NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.
On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return.
We provide Catholic SRE and a combined arrangement for Christian SRE.
The approved providers in the combined arranged for Christian SRE are:
- Presbyterian Church of Australia
- CRC Churches International NSW
- Albury Bible Church
- ACTS Global Churches (previously Apostolic Church Australia)
- Associated Christian Ministries
- Lutheran Church of Australia, NSW District (Rhodes)
- Churches of Christ in NSW (Fresh Hope)
- Australian Christian Churches
The authorised curriculum scope and sequence for Christian SRE can be found at https://godspace.org.au, http://cepconnect.com.au and https://cepconnect.com.au/images/uploads/BWG-Syllabus-all.pdf. Christian SRE is provided by SRE teachers from different Christian denominations and churches. All Christian SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider.
The curriculum is based on Good News about Jesus Christ. Christian SRE engages students in conversations as they question life, explore values and discover faith.
The approved provider for Catholic SRE is the Catholic Diocese of Wagga Wagga.
The authorised curriculum for the Catholic Diocese of Wagga Wagga can be found at https://wagga.catholic.org.au/sre-catechesis/. Lessons include activities that are fun and inclusive for students, whilst also providing them the opportunity to critically explore in depth their faith and to pray and reflect. Catholic SRE teachers engage young people in hearing the Good News about Jesus Christ and learning the key elements of our Christian life and culture.
During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending participate in alternative meaningful activities such as reading, drawing, completing homework and basic structured activities.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
